Your Responsibilities

 

We are looking for students interested in a Spring Semester internship opportunity at John Deere – Augusta located in Grovetown, Georgia. Student must be willing and available to work from January 2024 – May 2024.

 

The Internship Program is for students enrolled in major fields of study that align with full-time employment opportunities at John Deere.  Students may enter the program during undergraduate or graduate studies.  

 

John Deere - Augusta produces 27 models of compact utility tractors that are distributed throughout North America and exported to more than 40 other countries. The facility occupies more than 1,000,000 square feet, spans more than 200 acres, and employs approximately 350 employees to support the design, production, and distribution of John Deere compact utility tractors.

 

John Deere - Augusta builds the 1 Family, 2 Family, 3 Family, and 4 Family Compact Utility Tractors that are popular with homeowners, small farmers, landscape contractors and commercial users.

What Skills You Need

  • Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree or Senior pursuing a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ag Engineering, or related technical degree.
  • Desired cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Minimum cumulative GPA required of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must be willing and available to work January 2023 - May 2023

Major Duties

  • Applies existing applications to routine problems.
  • Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
  • Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Learns and applies company engineering policies and practices; learns company products.
  • Executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.

Skills, Abilities, Knowledge

Skill in using company information systems and processes.
Knowledge of Test Procedures.
Knowledge in engineering principles, theory and practice as well as product knowledge.
Knowledge of Product Delivery Process programs.
Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit. Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors.
Knowledge of the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP), Enterprise Technology Development process (ETDP) and/or Enterprise Customer Acquisition Process (ECAP).
