As a Staff Software Engineer at John Deere in Indaiatuba/SP, you will provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams responsible for delivering critical financial and dealer-facing solutions supporting Credit Delivery in the US and Canada and Asset Management capabilities for Dealers. You will drive the technical vision and architectural direction of distributed systems and cloud-native applications built with Java, Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js.In this role, you will influence technical decisions across teams, lead the design of scalable and resilient solutions on AWS, and partner closely with Product, Engineering Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to align technology investments with business outcomes. Beyond delivering software, you will mentor engineers, foster engineering excellence, and help shape the long-term technology strategy for John Deere Financial platforms.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, driving alignment on architecture, engineering practices, and technical priorities
- Lead the design and evolution of scalable, highly available, and resilient distributed systems supporting business-critical financial and dealer solutions
- Define and communicate technical strategy, architectural roadmaps, and modernization initiatives aligned with organizational objectives
- Drive solution design discussions, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making across teams and domains
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into sustainable technical solutions
- Lead the development and maintenance of applications using Java, Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js
- Design and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services, including serverless architectures
- Establish and promote engineering excellence through software design best practices, code quality standards, testing strategies, observability, and operational readiness
- Drive reliability, scalability, security, and performance improvements across the platform
- Lead efforts to improve developer productivity through CI/CD optimization, automation, and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance to senior and junior team members, helping develop future technical leaders
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and architectural challenges across multiple teams
- Influence cross-functional initiatives and contribute to strategic technology decisions across the organization
- Contribute to the design and implementation of JDF credit and dealer asset management solutions, ensuring security, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Design and implement solutions using SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring efficient data storage, access, and scalability
Skills You Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced English with the ability to influence decisions, lead technical discussions, present complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborate effectively within global teams
- Extensive experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native applications
- Strong expertise in Java and modern web technologies, including Node.js, TypeScript, and React.js
- Deep knowledge of AWS cloud services and serverless architectures
- Strong understanding of software architecture principles, system design, integration patterns, and event-driven architectures
- Experience driving architectural decisions across teams and influencing technical direction without direct authority
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including performance optimization and data modeling
- Strong experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Experience with observability platforms and operational excellence practices, including New Relic
- Strong understanding of software quality practices, including automated testing, reliability engineering, and production support
- Availability to work in a hybrid model, 3 times a week, in Indaiatuba/SP
