Overview & Responsibilities

As a Full-Stack Developer serving on a hybrid basis for John Deere Financial based in Johnston, IA, you will be accountable for performing full stack development and ownership of existing and emerging end-to-end retail financing solutions as an active member of a highly talented agile scrum team. Additionally, your work will be instrumental for solving technical issues in the channel enabled retail financing space.
You will also be involved with:
  • Developing and implementing API-driven, event-driven, distributed, resilient, loosely coupled, and reliable applications
  • Collaborating with other John Deere software engineers, stakeholders, and occasionally external companies and customers to solve technical problems and build software solutions
  • Following industry-standard agile software design methodologies

What Skills You Need


  • 1 or more years of experience with designing, developing, testing, and integrating medium complexity software solutions while leveraging change management processes
  • Expertise in developing software with one or more modern programming language or library, such as Java – Spring, JavaScript – NodeJS)
  • Proficiency in modern database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, and PostgreSQL
  • Understanding of modern development practices including Source control, CI/CD, TDD, dependency injection, and containerization)
  • Working knowledge of designing and developing service-based architecture and micro-services

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Prior success working within an Agile Scrum team environment and a deep understanding of object-oriented design patterns
  • Hands-on familiarity with deployment tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, GitHub Actions
  • Expertise with AWS cloud services such as ECS, Lambda and related AWS certifications
  • Knowledge of hosting technologies such as Linux, serverless, and docker
  • Ability to convey passion towards the quality of your product and your craft



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline OR equivalent full-stack software development experience
