Your Responsibilities


As a Principal Software Engineer for John Deere’s Parts IT team, you will work with multiple product teams providing technical leadership to these teams who are responsible for planning, executing, coding, and testing applications that run John Deere’s Global Parts business. These systems provide the business capabilities needed to operate parts distribution centers, forecast and order parts from our suppliers, and manage and fulfill orders from our dealer network.


In addition, you will:

  • Be recognized as a technical leader in the solution of complex problems; develop creative functionality and provide solutions to complex problems by identifying and organizing necessary resources.
  • Lead critical modernization and innovation initiatives by driving system engineering across multiple product teams within Parts.
  • Serve as an advocate for the architecture and security discipline, policies, and standards across multiple product teams.
  • Provide guidance to dependent external systems that must integrate with Part applications.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to others within the technical discipline.

What Skills You Need



  • Proven experience working across multiple modules in SAP covering sales, finance, material, inventory management and SAP integration and security tools. (12+ Years)
  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex and scalable distributed software systems that combine custom-developed software with purchased SAP solutions using modern integration frameworks (10+ years)
  • Proven experience implementing DevSecOps practices within SAP technology, including deployment automation, active control, automated testing, and security practices. (10+ Years)
  • Experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles for custom-developed software within an Agile/Scrum team environment. (7+ Years)
  • Software engineering experience across a wide breadth of infrastructure and technology competencies, including ABAP or Java Application Development, APIs, Databases, Infrastructure, Cloud, and UI. (10+ years)
  • Proven experience as a technical leader in an Agile/Scrum team environment. (7+ years)
  • Deep experience running SAP solutions in a cloud environment with the AWS platform. (5+ years)

What Makes You Stand Out


  • 5+  years experience with SAP CRM, SAP EWM, SAP Service Parts Management, SAP SCM Logistics, and Planning.
  • 5+ years of experience working on IT systems that directly support Service Parts Management or Warehouse Operations.
  • 5+ yrs of experience working with solutions that serve a dealer network.
  • A reputation of providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to members of agile software engineering teams. Experience working in Agile frameworks, specifically Scrum @ Scale.
  • Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solutions.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Learning Agility / Innovative – desire and openness for continuous technical learning and identifying areas for application.
  • Growth mindset – willingness to deal and thrive in uncertainty.

Education Details


Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
