Your Responsibilities
As a Staff Software Engineer (CA) for John Deere in Moline, IL, you will:
- Gather requirements, Design and develop Embedded software applications in C++ for the Diagnostics services for Off Highway Vehicle
- Evaluate and implement design solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of vehicle diagnostic applications
- Understand and analyze requirements from engineering and embedded systems on CAN Communication protocols, data frames structures and supported parameters to create software requirement specification
- Lead team to technical aspects to adhere to best quality practices for developing software
- Mentor junior software engineers within the team and across multiple products
- Lead engineering practices alongside the engineering manager.
- Up to 10% domestic and international travel required. Up to 20% remote work allowed. Must live within normal commuting distance of the worksite.
What Skills You Need
- 7 years of experience in Embedded C++/Linux Programming to develop applications
- 5 years of experience in Modern C++ (C++11/14/17) to develop high performance multi-threaded application
- 5 years of experience working with the latest developer tools including Visual Studio/CMake, Conan, Git, and GDB for build creation and version control
- 6 years of experience with Communication (CAN, LIN, CAPL Script, J19393, and ISO-11783) and Diagnostic protocol (UDS and/or KWP) to complete diagnostic services and to develop the Smart Implement
- 5 years of experience in agricultural or construction industry experience (Telematics, Auto guidance, Precision Farming, and Smart Implement ISO-bus)
- 3 years of experience in understanding of End-to-End Architecture of a distributed enterprise Service tool application. Client-Server, REST, Cloud/AWS, HTTP, UI, Web Services, Search Engines (SOLR, Elastic Search).
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus 7 years related experience.
