Your Responsibilities
As a Director, Community Relations and President, John Deere Foundation for Deere & Company World Headquarters located in Moline, Illinois, you will:
- Lead the alignment of the community giving, public relations, and local government relations plans to the strategic goals of the business to ensure that any spend is focused and provides best value to the business.
- Manage a portfolio of community investments and local government relations initiatives to ensure successful achievement of business objectives. This includes partnering across Global Brand and Communications to coordinate and lead local engagement campaigns.
- Establishes community engagement framework for the enterprise that includes community giving, local government relations strategy and collaborates with peers on local advertising, local sponsorships, and local public relations.
- Oversee a particular area, product, or service within the larger public relations, government relations, regulation, and registration strategy. This involves managing development or delivery (or both).
- Communicate the function's strategy and its relationship to the organization's mission, vision, and values; clarify the actions needed to implement this strategy within the area of responsibility; motivate people to commit to the mission, vision, and values and do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.
- Develop functional or operational policies and help develop policy frameworks for area of responsibility or department. Take responsibility for creating underlying procedures and monitoring their implementation.
- Lead the development and implementation of strategy for a significant area of responsibility, anticipating complex issues, challenges, and opportunities and ensuring integration with wider corporate strategy.
- Manage certain aspects of the external communications system with some guidance from senior colleagues. This could mean being responsible for the development or operation of the system.
- Manage budget plans for a department. May involve development or delivery or both. Partner with Pension & Investments team to manage the John Deere Foundation’s endowment.
- Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.

What Skills You Need
- 15 years or more experience to provide leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes and challenges
- 10 years or more experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames
What Makes You Stand Out
- Existing relationships with local government bodies, NGOs, and key community stakeholders in regions of operation (e.g., Moline, Illinois).
- Familiarity with local regulations and how they influence community investments and government relations strategies.
- Prior experience working in or with agriculture, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
- Understanding of John Deere’s brand identity, values, and mission as it pertains to both business and community development.
- Advanced knowledge of endowment management, particularly in philanthropic organizations.
- Certifications in corporate philanthropy, governance, or nonprofit management (e.g., CFRE – Certified Fund Raising Executive).
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Master's Degree or Equivalent Level
