Your Responsibility

The Legal Operations Data & Analytics Lead develops analytics, reporting, artificial intelligence solutions, and data-driven insights that improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and strategic decision-making capabilities of the Legal organization. This role serves as the Legal Operations team's technical expert for dashboard development, self-service analytics, contract intelligence, data wrangling, data pipelines, and AI-enabled solutions.The role partners with stakeholders to transform legal data into actionable insights.

 

As a Legal Operations Data & Analytics Lead for John Deere World Headquarters located in Moline, IL, Des Moines, IA, Chicago, IL, or Santa Clara, CA you will:

 

  • Develop and maintain dashboards and self-service analytics-build Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting solutions.
  • Analyze legal operations data-evaluate outside counsel spend, billing trends, matter lifecycles, workload drivers, operational performance, and process efficiency to identify insights, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Perform data wrangling and quality management -cleanse, transform, validate, and standardize data to improve accuracy, consistency, usability, and trust in Legal reporting and analytics.
  • Enable contract intelligence-extract, structure, and analyze contract data to identify obligations, risks, trends, business opportunities, and insights that support Legal and business decision-making.
  • Develop forecasting and anomaly detection capabilities-build models, scripts, and monitoring solutions that support budgeting, demand planning, billing review, compliance monitoring, and identification of outliers or process issues.
  • Support AI and LLM readiness-build structured datasets and pipelines for artificial intelligence consumption, including GenAI, machine learning, and large language model use cases within Legal Operations.
  • Build AI-enabled tools and agents-design and support AI agents, copilots, automations, and workflow solutions in the Microsoft environment, including Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI, and related tools.
  • Partner across functions-work with Legal, Finance, Procurement, IT, Compliance, and other stakeholders to improve data governance, reporting adoption, operational efficiency, and analytics maturity.

What Skills You Need

 

  • 5 or more years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, data science, data engineering, or advanced analytics.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, including experience transforming, analyzing, and validating complex datasets.
  • Experience developing dashboards, reports, and visual analytics using Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization tools.
  • Experience building or maintaining data pipelines, automated reporting workflows, data repositories, or analytics environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into business insights and recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with Legal, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders. 

What Makes You Standout

 

  • Familiarity with legal technology platforms
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, Azure AI, Power Platform, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365, or related Microsoft enterprise technologies.
  • Experience building AI agents, copilots, LLM-enabled tools, or automation solutions in a Microsoft environment.
  • Experience with contract analytics, document intelligence, unstructured data extraction, or knowledge management solutions.
  • Experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, statistical modeling, or forecasting.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, data privacy, access controls, and information management best practices. 

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
