This position may be located in Moline, IL or Chicago, IL per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.


This position is eligible for partial remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities


As a Senior Software Engineer for the John Deere Order Management Program Plan team in Moline, IL or Chicago, IL, you will be responsible for collaborating with other engineers to design, develop, implement, and support new and existing functionality in the Plan Product to ensure the solution design helps meet the operational, integration, cost, quality, and performance goals of the overall solution. In addition, you will;


  • Work as an active member on the Plan Agile development team
  • Engage in all aspects of the software delivery cycle including the design, build, test, deploy, and support of high quality front-end and back-end applications
  • Supporting a culture of software craftsmanship best practices including Test Automation, Continuous Integration/Deployment, and technical debt management
  • Assist with root cause analysis and resolution of production support issues
  • Technical pairing with embedded team members

What Skills You Need


  • 3 or more years of experience with Java web development with Spring and RESTful APIs
  • 3 or more years of experience with JavaScript development utilizing ReactJS, Redux, HTML, and CSS
  • 2 or more years of working with SQL/NoSQL databases (i.e. HANA, DB2, DocumentDB, etc.)
  • 2 or more years of experience with TDD and acceptance test-driven development utilizing J-Unit, Mockito, Cucumber, Jest, Puppeteer, Enzyme, RTL, etc.
  • 2 or more years of work experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment
  • Experience writing well-tested software, and refactoring code bases over an extended product lifecycle
  • Adaptability to learn new technologies, programming languages, and software delivery practices

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (GitHub, Jenkins, Active Control etc.)
  • Experience configuring, implementing, and utilizing system execution/quality monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Grafana, Kibana, Splunk, SonarQube, etc.
  • Development experience using ag-Grid
  • SAP development experience using ABAP, Fiori, UI5
  • Experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure
  • Working understanding of design patterns and loosely coupled architecture
  • Experience working with John Deere dealers and order fulfillment software



Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering
