Your Responsibilities

 

As a Sr Staff Software Engineer for John Deere located in Milan IL, you will:

 

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design and deliver components of "Integration Platform as a Service" (iPaaS) strategy for Deere's Global IT. This includes sun-setting legacy integration platforms at Deere and provide future-state solutions to incrementally replace legacy integration platforms.

 

  • Evaluate, design and implement software solutions to help development teams be more effective at delivering high quality products to John Deere’s customers.
  • Helps build a highly
  • successfully DevOps community across the organization through sharing experiences and best practices.
  • Collaborates with other developers and product team members to ensure success.
  • Supports and extends current products to continue to help John Deere developers be more successful.

What Skills You Need

  • Experience with consuming and writing APIs.(REST, GraphQL, gRPC)
  • Deep understanding of protocols (HTTP, MQTT, FTP, WebSockets, TCP/IP, SMTP) and data formats (JSON, Avro, Parquet)
  • Experience as a developer writing code for various applications.
  • Experience using DevOps or extreme Programming practices as part of development.
  • Experience in owning the operation and infrastructure of applications.
  • Experience using cloud solution providers (like AWS, Azure, etc) to host your application and services.
  • Experience working with a community of other software developers.
  • Strong Communication Skills.

 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience with several different DevOps type of tooling (Ex: Drone, Github & Github Actions, Azure DevOps, Docker, Terraform, Puppet, Black duck, Artifactory, Sonar, Linting Tools, etc.).
  • Experience with several different languages (Ex: Java, JavaScript, Python, Go, Scala, etc).
  • Experience with using containers for orchestration of servers (Ex: Docker, ECS/K8s, etc).
  • Tool and/or Server Administration experience.
  • Unix/Linux administration experience.
  • Experience with contributing to open-source platforms/tools.
  • Experience mentoring others on best technical practices.

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field.
