Your Responsibilities

 

As a Staff Data Scientist for JD Intelligent Solutions Group you will:

This is a remote US based position 

• Define technical strategy and architecture for complex data science, machine learning, AI, and advanced analytics initiatives across multiple products or business areas.
• Lead solutions from problem definition and experimentation through production deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
• Personally design and build models, algorithms, data pipelines, and production-ready analytical systems for difficult or ambiguous problems.
• Translate customer and business needs into scalable technical solutions with measurable outcomes.
• Provide technical direction across projects, ensuring solutions are reliable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Create reusable tools, frameworks, and technical practices that improve quality and accelerate delivery across teams.
• Partner with product, engineering, and business leaders to shape roadmaps, evaluate tradeoffs, and guide technical investments.
• Mentor data scientists and engineers through design reviews, code reviews, technical coaching, and knowledge sharing.
• Communicate technical recommendations, risks, and results clearly to technical teams and senior leaders.
• Promote engineering excellence, responsible AI, data governance, security, and technical innovation.

What Skills You Need

 

  • Minumum of 2 years of experience with PhD
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with Master of Science degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree
  • Significant experience creating & delivering production-grade machine learning (deep learning) AI, advanced analytics, optimization, or data-intensive software solutions.
  • Advanced Programming proficiency and experience with modern data science, machine learning, and software engineering practices.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets such as machine telemetry, geospatial data, imagery, time-series, operational, or agronomic data.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning, statistics, experimentation, model validation, and performance evaluation.
  • Experience designing scalable data pipelines, model workflows, and production architectures.
  • Strong software engineering foundation, including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, reproducibility, and maintainable code.
  • Proven ability to establish technical direction and influence decisions across multiple teams without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated success solving ambiguous problems and translating technical work into customer or business value.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder-influence, and technical mentoring skills. 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Expertise in computer vision, geospatial analytics, remote sensing, time-series modeling, optimization, robotics, autonomy, simulation, or precision agriculture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, Databricks, Spark, Kubernetes, distributed computing, MLOps, model registries, or production model monitoring.
  • Experience building reusable platforms, frameworks, libraries, or shared capabilities adopted by multiple teams.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI, privacy, data governance, cybersecurity, and model governance.
  • Experience defining technical strategy across a portfolio of products or initiatives.
  • Record of innovation through patents, publications, research collaborations, or novel production solutions. 

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical discipline.
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative, engineering, computer science, robotics, or applied AI/ML discipline highly preferred.
