The Role
Performs basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project. Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews. Develops recommendations within established guidelines. Uses preferred 3-Dimensional (3D) Computer Aided Design (CAD) tool.
What You Will Be Responsible For
Plans, coordinates and performs development, test and/or analysis of new concepts and 3D designs for a significant portion of a major project.
· Complete tasks in EPDP (Enterprise Product Delivery Process) and in CI (Continuous Improvement) for FL and 600 series product development
· Develop designs for technology delivery process (TDP) and Integrated System Development process (ISDP) projects to support EPDP programs.
· Exhibits some knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
· Performs as a user of 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) system. Able to evaluate new updates and tools.
· May work independently on complex systems such as Industrial Design of a product involving conflicting design requirements.
· Develops new or revises designs and options to meet functional or marketing requirements as assigned by the Engineering/Design Manager (s)
· Works with Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, PVV, Manufacturing, Purchasing, suppliers and production control in finding solutions to production problems and cost reductions.
· Responsible for understanding of customer needs and adaptation of the product against customer needs and requirements regarding repairs of weaknesses, characteristics or product productivity.
· Strives to provide a complete high-fidelity model at the design stage to reduce time to market and ensure a high-quality product at the concept stage.
· Performs engineering calculations on critical components to ensure quality of design and reduce risk
· Assists in developing and approving new Top-Down modeling standards & design practices.
· Works with cross functional team to design and test new components.
