Main Responsabilities

  • Senior Software Engineer provides technical leadership in the design, development, and support of software products that enable and sustain John Deere manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for debugging and resolving complex, cross system issues, ensuring high availability and reliability of factory critical applications. The engineer collaborates closely with product owners, UX, and cross functional teams, contributing hands on code while guiding technical decisions and best practices. Working within an Agile framework, this position supports continuous improvement, mentors other engineers, and ensures solutions deliver measurable value to the factories while meeting quality, security, and performance expectations.

What Skills You Need

  • 6+ years of experience in Java developing enterprise grade, production systems
  • 4+ years of experience with JavaScript / TypeScript for backend and frontend development
  • 4+ years of experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or equivalent
  • 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs
  • 3+ years of hands on experience with Docker for application containerization
  • 4+ years of experience supporting mission critical production systems, including on call rotations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, guide design decisions, and influence architecture
  • Experience mentoring engineers and promoting best practices in code quality, security, and reliability

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Knowledge of observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing)

Education

  • BS in Computer Systems Engineering or equivalent experience
