Your Responsibilities


As a Manufacturing Engineering Tooling Designer for JDS Valley City located in Valley City, ND, you will….


  • Provide on-going production support to tooling concerns including quality of the part and functionality of the tool
  • Provide estimated tooling costs and lead times for major tooling to product engineering for budgetary planning of Authority for Expenditures (AFEs). Monitor actual cost of tools against the budget
  • Process tooling requests on new or revised parts to determine exact tooling requirements and determine type of tool needed
  • Procure the required tooling from internal tool room or external tool suppliers and implement into production

What Skills You Need


  • Background in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.)
  • Skills in using computer aided design and/or engineering tools
  • Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Knowledge of materials engineering and engineering mechanics
  • Engineering knowledge of materials properties


What Makes You Stand Out


  • Prior tooling experience in a repetitive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with 3D printing.
  • Project management skills or experience.
  • Technical experience related to heavy manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to influence without authority.



Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent related work experience
