Your Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Engineer Battery Factory Automation for John Deere Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA (Primary office location: To be determined after the announcement of the U.S. Battery Factory location), you will:   

 

  • Successful delivery of U.S. battery factory automation design and equipment
  • Own the development, execution, and communication of the U.S. battery factory automation project schedule on a regular basis with internal and external stakeholders
  • Align execution with global battery manufacturing team
  • Partner with Kreisel Electric and external suppliers to develop and harmonize factory automation requirements for design and development of battery machine lines
  • Engage with the Enterprise Manufacturing Technology team to advance the Manufacturing Technology Stack in support of battery factory needs
  • Provide communication on critical issues, development status, etc.

What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences)

 

  • 5+ or more years in at least one of the following areas: factory automation, manufacturing engineering (line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools), data science/analytics, machine design
  • Experience working with automation suppliers to develop and implement new automation solutions in a Deere factory
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems, think critically, and generate conclusions/solutions from technical data
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute action plans in situations of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries and drive cross functional collaboration
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills  
  • Background in relevant engineering specialties (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic, power and control systems, etc.) necessary to develop battery factory automation systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including internationally

What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences)

 

  • Deep technical knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, automation control, and/or network architecture/topology
  • Data science or analytics background
  • Experience in battery manufacturing (module and pack assembly)
  • Experience leading a team of highly technical specialists
  • 2+ years of technical project/program management

Education

 

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

 

  • Bachelors of Arts/Science in a Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other relevant discipline with relevant work experience.
