This position is located in located at our new IT Tech Center in downtown Chicago's Fulton Market District.


This position is eligible for partially remote work at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Java Full Stack Developer, for the Ecommerce team at John Deere, Chicago location, you will become a part of a professionals and diverse team working in a collaborative work environment that fosters creativity and innovation where people from all backgrounds get together to do their life’s best work. In this role you will...

  • Design, build and deliver ECommerce software solutions to protect market share in the After Market Parts, Services, Subscriptions and Consumer Whole Goods spaces.
  • Operate within a full stack agile team and participate in all aspects of teams work of building out John Deere’s Ecommerce applications and ensuring delivery adheres to the proposed architecture.
  • Ensure high quality software through adherence to Test Driven Development (TDD) as the foundation of development and enabling CI/CD and DevSecOps practices.
  • Provide Technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to team members within the product space.

What Skills You Need

• 3-5 years of proven experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software solutions in Java8+ (ex: Platforms, Applications, API's) leveraging change management

• 3+ years of experience with Java web development with Spring and RESTful APIs, Messaging services (Rabbit MQ, Kafka)

• 3+ years of understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints (MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB or other)

• 2+ years of demonstrated experience in TDD, acceptance test-driven development and emerging design (Mockito, Spring Testing)

• 2+ more years of experience with DevOps principles and lean development such as Continuous Integration (e.g. GitHub) and Continuous Delivery (Jenkins, Docker, K8s etc.)

• 2+ year of strong understanding of microservice architecture & knowledge of challenges related to building cloud-native apps. 


What Makes You Stand Out

• Demonstrated experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment

• Working understanding of design patterns and loosely coupled architectures

• Experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure

• Modern web application development experience using React and Node.

• Experience collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solution



Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
