This position may be located in Moline, IL, or Sunnyvale, CA per the hiring manager's discretion. This may be dependent on the successful candidate's background, experience, and proficiency.


This position is eligible for a partial telework arrangement at the present time.  The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.



Your Responsibilities


As a Green Energy and Environmental Science Technical Specialist for Small Ag and Turf located in Moline, IL or Sunnyvale, CA, your responsibility will be:


  • Defining and leading the development of the technology for monetizing energy storage, Energy Carbon Credits and Green energy in the environment of electric machinery on farms
  • The role will run calculations and simulations to ensure successful solutions are executed for our customers
  • This role will be responsible for evaluating the technical solutions of our future partners and consultants as we expand our green solutions around the world
  • This role will be responsible for selecting the correct sensor strategy and / or partners for measuring energy and fuel usage and then verifying with the appropriate standards and compliance agencies
  • This role will collaborate closely with the technical community at John Deere to translate the needs of the customer into specs for the development teams to execute to

What Skills You Need


  • 8 or more years’ experience in the carbon and energy management industry
  • 3 or more years’ experience in the compliance energy market, Energy Carbon Credit Market, Green energy Market or similar
  • Understanding of main lines power, power factor correction at the grid level, Net Metering, Sensors, and wireless communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Lora, etc.
  • Knowledge to run tests, simulations, and calculations to determine acceptable topologies for the measurement and documentation of energy demand, generation(conversion), distribution
  • Document findings and provide specifications to the technical community to develop appropriate hardware, software, and communication technologies to accomplish the program goals.
  • Drive schedules, costs, and quality requirements to the appropriate departments through clear specifications
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships within the company as well as outside the company to drive programs forward
  • Understanding of California’s Energy and Carbon programs such as CARB (California Air Resources Board), FARMER (Funding Agricultural Replacement Measures for Emission Reductions), LCFS(low-carbon fuel standard), SGIP(self-generated incentive program), Energy Resilience program

What Makes You Stand Out


  • Agriculture experience
  • Understanding of the Energy sector in California as well as a deep understanding of VPPAs, PPAs, and other green energy sources
  • MBA or equivalent relevant business experience
  • Global Energy compliance and/or voluntary Carbon Credit market experience




Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:


  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering Discipline ( i.e. Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Alternative Energy, etc.)  or Environmental Science,
