Your Responsibilities
As a Safety Engineer for JD Davenport Works located in Davenport, IA, you will:
- Compiles and analyzes necessary data, documentation and correspondence to comply with Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) requirements
- Develops recommendations for health and safety processes/programs to meet the John Deere health and safety standards and comply with applicable laws and regulations. Participates in unit strategic planning process
- Coordinates safety audits and risk assessments to identify noncompliance with John Deere standards, processes and applicable laws and regulations. Manages corrective action and preventative action processes
- Leads incident investigations and ergonomic reviews and assist in determining effective corrective action
- Reviews new products, equipment and processes for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. Making recommendations if necessary prior to introduction
- Utilizes acquired knowledge to respond to both internal and external questions and requests for information relevant to safety and health issues
- Develops, directs and conducts safety presentations and training
- May assist or manage workers compensation administration and return to work programs

What Skills You Need
- Knowledge of health and safety management systems - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
- Understanding of all major governmental regulatory programs and health and safety legal requirements - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
- Understanding of ergonomic and industrial hygiene principles
- Understanding of incident investigation, root cause analysis and injury and illness reporting requirements
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
- Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge
What Makes You Standout
- 3+ years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety profession in manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing operation, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering environment
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or equivalent experience
