Your Responsibilities

 

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer for John Deere in Moline, IL, you will Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions involving collaborating with software engineers to architect systems that can handle high traffic loads and remain resilient to failures. In addition, you will:

 

  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes including using configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet, as well as building custom scripts and utilities;
  • Implement and maintain monitoring solutions to track the health and performance of systems and applications;
  • Configure alerting mechanisms to notify teams of potential issues or anomalies;
  • Lead incident response efforts during system outages or performance degradations;
  • Conduct post-mortem analyses to identify root causes and implement preventative measures;
  • Analyze system performance metrics to identify bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization;
  • Plan for capacity growth to accommodate increasing workloads;
  • Ensure that systems and infrastructure adhere to security best practices and compliance requirements;
  • Implement security controls and participate in security audits and assessments;
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including software development, operations, and quality assurance to drive improvements in reliability and efficiency;
  • Share knowledge through documentation, presentations, and training sessions;
  • Continuously evaluate and refine processes and tools to enhance reliability, scalability, and efficiency;
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate into the infrastructure stack;
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for production systems;
  • Respond to alerts and incidents outside of regular business hours as needed;
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers;
  • Serve as a technical leader within the team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • This is a 100% remote position. Can live anywhere in the U.S.  

 

What Skills You Need

 

  • 5 years of experience in analyze running customer facing software systems to determine reliability improvements using tools like Splunk, New Relic, Datadog and ELK stack
  • 5 years of experience in deploy and assist in deploying updates to enterprise software systems using deployment tools like Jenkins, Teamcity, Gitlab and Github Actions
  • 5 years of experience in collaborate with software development teams to improve reliability of running software systems using IDEs including IntelliJ and Visual Code
  • 5 years of experience in design, code and deploy internal developer software systems and processes with an understanding of software design patterns and tools including Gitlab and Github Actions

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related field plus 5 years related experience.

$140,000 - $150,000 per year + Benefits
