Your Responsibilities
As an OFP Quality Engineer for John Deere located in Davenport, IA, you will be responsible for tactical support of the fabrication and paint departments at Davenport Works. This position is the first response to quality issues and is a core member of the cross-functional business unit team. In addition, you will:
- Support daily operations by responding to tactical quality issues in a shop floor environment. Validate non conformances, investigate, contain, and resolve quality non conformances within the production process.
- Use production quality data to identify projects, execute short-term containment, investigate root cause, and drive long-term corrective actions and mistake proofing.
- Provide clear and timely communication to management, operations and cross functional teams for active quality issues
- Lead quality planning and execution discussions, including risk analysis, risk mitigation, control plans, dimensional analysis, and strategic quality improvements. Maintain current and historical quality performance documentation metrics.
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) process on the shop floor – improving and implementing departmental Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Delivery, Ergonomic and Cost reduction projects
- Work closely with cross functional teams, suppliers and product design to drive inherent quality into our processes and products

What Skills You Need
- An effective communicator who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment
- Experience demonstrating technical aptitude in the following areas: welding, machining, automation, and assembly.
- Experience with root cause analysis, NCCA, PFMEA, corrective action, mistake proofing or digital process control tools.
- A self-starter with the ability to execute multiple tasks in parallel with little supervision.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and summarize trend data to make sound decisions.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours to support variable shift production operations, when required.
- Knowledge of drawing and schematic interpretation, product models, and GD&T.
What Makes You Stand Out
- 3+ years of quality, manufacturing, or operations experience in fabrication and/or paint operations
- Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement projects and initiatives
- Work experience involving the hands-on use of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, DPAR, PPAP, DMAIC, Six Sigma and 8D Problem Solving
- Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques (e.g. pareto charts, histograms, pie and bar charts and control plans)
- JDAAT Admin/authoring experience
- Experience with data analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, SQL, etc.)
- Experience with automation or robotics projects
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Weld Engineering. Others may apply.
