As an Industrial Maintenance Technician with John Deere Turf Care in Fuquay-Varina, NC, you will:
Perform maintenance and repairs to production equipment in a fast paced, multi-tasked environment. In addition, you will troubleshoot and repair a variety of industrial electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems while prioritizing safety, quality, and teamwork.
Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:
- Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures before working on any piece of equipment or systems.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on the factory floor and other designated areas.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical system issues as they pertain to factory operations and individual pieces of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose automated machine controls and Variable Frequency Drives.
- Respond to both planned and immediate maintenance requests.
- Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime.
- Troubleshoot and repair various types of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment in a timely manner.
- Repair, rebuild, or overhaul equipment including but not limited to rotating weld fixtures, powered material handling conveyors, power & free chain conveyor system, hydraulic valves/motors, and HVAC systems.
- Provide support to weld, paint, and assembly operations as well as other needs of the facility and grounds.
- Communicate with vendors to obtain quotes for replacement materials and spare parts.
- Occasionally work with outside contractors on specialized projects
- Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
- Clean work area and perform other miscellaneous duties inherent to the job.
- Work shifts (choice of shift based on seniority).
John Deere Turf Care operates on 1st and 3rd shifts. This posting will be used to fill openings on either shift, subject to facility needs at the time plus overtime.
- First Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:00am - 4:30pm (four 10-hour shifts)
- Third Shift: Monday - Thursday, 6:30pm - 5:00am (four 10-hour shifts)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have at least one of the following:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
- At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
- 5+ years of experience in either Electrical, Mechanical, or HVAC / Plumbing maintenance (or equivalent Military experience and training).
- 2+ years of Electrical maintenance experience (including supporting 3-phase 480 electrical systems).
- 2+ years of experience troubleshooting hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
- 2+ years of experience supporting machine controls and automation.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and using documents such as maintenance manuals, engineering blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Ability and willingness to work any shift and potential overtime (including weekends).
What Makes You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Weld certification and/or equivalent weld experience; including:
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing robotic welding cells.
- Journeyperson’s card or post-secondary training / certification in a mechanical trade.
- Experience using lathes and mills to fabricate or modify parts.
