Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Welding (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities

As Senior ME - Welding you will be the overall manufacturing lead for the Next Generation Boom program for the EU28 Sprayer strategy. You plan, coordinate and deploy all TDP, PDP and OFP manufacturing activities for the Next Gen Booms program and act as a sparring partner for product engineering for exploring (new) manufacturing technology deployment and product design.  Moreover, you will be responsible for development of the long-term required ME welding competency within the R2 sprayer production facility at John Deere Fabriek Horst.

More specific:

  • You manage the program complexity by providing ownership and responsibility of on key manufacturing and welding processes.
  • You identify, investigate, and implement key manufacturing/welding process changes as required for the NG boom program or enhancements on the current boom manufacturing process.
  • You work with the FMP team and lead capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process for NG boom program.
  • You master the ME tech-stack and identify new or alternative welding manufacturing technologies and tools to increase the factory's effectiveness (cost reduction, modernization and quality improvements).
  • You will make decisions on level of automation and digitalization, SCF tech stack and deployment for the unit.
  • You lead studies of welding operation, make recommendations w.r.t. machinery, tooling, material handling equipment and deploy layouts and plan to implement the changes.
  • You establish the (complex) manufacturing processes and work with outside suppliers to design, approve, build and tryout tooling and technologies for new and existing products.
  • You provide technical direction and expertise to project team members and management.
  • You provide consultation, direction and mentoring to less experienced manufacturing engineering staff or contractors.
  • You define the future ME weld competency needs to maintain newly implemented NG booms manufacturing strategy.

What Skills You Need

  • Master or Bachelor’s degree in industrial, mechanical or agricultural engineering or related fields.
  • 4+ years leadership role experience within welding production environment.
  • Shopfloor/welding department experience and fundamental understanding or welding manufacturing processes.
  • Solid knowledge on Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies and knows how to deploy them.
  • Can do mentality, analytical, flexible and innovative.
  • Team player and team leader with demonstrated effective communication skills to include and motivate people throughout different levels of the organization (from shopfloor till management).
  • Make funded decisions based on the available information.
  • Fluent English in speaking and writing.
  • Solid knowledge on line and process design, cycles of imbalancing and visual management tools.
