Primary Location: United States (US) - Wisconsin - Horicon
As a Product Engineering Specialist with John Deere Horicon Works in Horicon, WI, you will:
Perform work required for the development, production, testing, and evaluation of protype equipment in an experimental shop or field operations while focusing on safety, quality, and teamwork.
Job details are dependent on duties assigned but in general consist of the following:
- Develop, build, calibrate, install, maintain, and operate electronic, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical test equipment in a test laboratory.
- Install engineering instrumentation on vehicles, in laboratory settings, and field test locations while conducting tests to obtain engineering data for evaluation and design of experimental equipment.
- Analyze, and check performance of test part(s) / equipment and complete daily report on performance.
- Diagnose, overhaul, and adjust component parts, performing major mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic work.
- Design and build test fixtures working from complex formed views parts/components to test, using computer aided software to assist in this task.
- Investigate and review test results. Recommend design changes to improve new as well as current products.
- May train Field Test Operators on test audit logs and details.
- May review field test service logs for accuracy and requirements.
- Assist and support other team members and work with minimal supervision.
- Maintain a clean work area supporting miscellaneous duties inherent to work in within a product development shop.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have at least one of the following:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC)
- At least 3 years of manufacturing work experience
- 3 or more years of mechanical / electrical technician experience (or equivalent military experience and training); including but not limited to:
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding motorized vehicles or equipment; including motors, transmissions, and drive trains.
- Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic system troubleshooting
- Experience with electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics
- Experience with welding and metal fabrication
- Ability to perform manual tasks related to described job duties for duration of work shift; including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Ability and willingness to work potential overtime (including weekends).
